Why does anyone but Israel care where their capitol is? Does anyone care that Washington, D.C. is America's capitol except Americans? WHY?

Israel should be allowed to determine where their capital is...it is their country.

The Arabs claim Israel does not have any right to exist much less have the rights to the Holy City of Jesusalem. And by denying it they are denying Israels history in the region and right to be there.

  • Jerusalem is the capitol and will always remain just that. With that piece of information in hand, the US State Department establishes embassies based on an understanding of where the government of the host nation is located and for a lot of practical reasons. Of course we can pretend that Washington D.C. isn't the national capital and spread embassies across the nation like a McDonald's franchise. Might make a lot of people mad, but hey that's just life. One other observation about Jerusalem: It will one day be the capitol of the kingdom that God establishes on this earth, like it or not.

Religion.  Plain and simple.  The people in that region have been fighting over religion for well over 5000 years.  The names may have changed, but the reason hasn't.  Jews, muslims, christians ... whatever, they all believe that Jerusalem holds some kind of religious significance (past, present and/or future).   Since religion (of some kind) is a strong point with humanity, to stick one's nose into the central "hot spot of religion" will make one seem more "prestigious" (be it a person or a nation).

OMG! Seriously? Well the joke will be on us if there are no "supreme beings". If life is random happenstance without a grand design. How many murders have been committed in the name of religion? If it is figment and unreal all of it is for nothing. The ultimate in "happy" endings then? I'm gonna ask. Thank you for your reply Shuhak. This post was edited by RosieG at May 15, 2018 1:34 PM MDT

    Seriously.

There are many so-called "biblical prophecies" concerning events that are supposed to happen in Jerusalem.   Unfortunately, most of these stem from a misunderstanding of the bible.

Life is too "perfect" to be happenstance (in design and function).  There's no way it could have "just happened".  No more than if I were to shake together a bunch of metal ore, oil and some chemicals ... and presto - out popped a Ferrari.

It's funny how many murders and such are committed in the name of religion, and yet nearly every religious creed condemns murder (bible, Koran, etc.).  Something tells me that people like to use religion as a way to justify their hatred for other people.

Precisely. Which brings to mind another question. I know. BIG SURPRISE! Thank you for your thoughtful reply Shuhak.

Because Jerusalem is claimed as the capital of both Israel and Palestine ... if Palestine were an actual country.

Sort of like if both East and West Germany claimed Berlin as their capitals, during the height of the Cold War. This post was edited by Walt O'Reagun at May 15, 2018 2:19 PM MDT
