How do you measure "equal"? Mozart/Cole Porter. Shakespeare/John Steinbeck. Walt Kelly/Charles Schulz. Is there a Superor there? Where?

  • You can evaluate each one individually for their particular contributions in their field, but to have head to head matchups such as you describe, would be presenting the old "oranges vs apples" conundrum. Mozart and Porter, for example were too disparate in what they produced, and how they brought it about, to be placed in some measure of equality or superiority. In this example, you have genius vs talent, both with memorable results, but not the same. I like to have people considered within the context of time, place and environment.

    The only real equality exists in God's love.  We are all creations of God so loved by God.  Nothing else is "equal" at all unless we decide that it is for us.  But what does it matter>  We can enjoy and admire the accomplishments of all those people and more - accomplishments that most of us would not be capable of.  So why not just enjoy whatever accomplishment we like and leave it at that?  Without trying to "rank" them or make them "equal".
