I lived through that as well as other "bygone" eras and I'm not quite sure what you mean. By "strut" do you mean positivity? We were, most of us, much more hopeful in those days about our lives and about the world which perhaps was expressed in how we walked. Or are you speaking of walking from the hips rather than from the shoulders? Which a lot of black people did then and some hippies.
Speak for yourself :P Oh ok, well I mostly scoot or zoom along, always in a hurry.. No time for strutting.
I have been watching a lot of old films...
Some it was that we were more confident then, there was a feeling that the world was our oyster and we could be anything we wanted to be.. we had more time...
But beyond that I am not sure strutting was the universal norm
Oh, I beg to differ... You sneak along, humming your own song, ........ while all the while, eyeballing what is going on... And as you not change your gait... you do incorporate! It's great to see you! Love, Merlin who loves to strut, magical stuff ;P !
The swag went away with the introduction of the cell phone. It wiggles the screen to much when your texting and walking to make jerky movements practical.
I think it has to do with the location of the desired crotch in your pants. Location... Location... Location....
