  • Good choice Welby. I was 9 years old when that film came out. The intense and surreal anxiety created by those children was over the top for a sensitive and impressionable kid. Sometimes the best horror is implied and not built on slash and gore.

I'm sorry, Thriftymaid! I just only now saw your answer! (I've talked with JA and she tried to help but for some reason I don't get alerts for questions I've asked, even though I always click on the box to be notified.)

I looked up the cast to that movie --  Harvey Stephens was young "Damien." Yes, creepy!!

I love the entire musical score to this movie!
    :)

Agreed! She was astounding. And you aren't the only one who answered with Blair in this movie. A powerful movie to me!

I saw it in the big theater during a theatrical re-release. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen.

And, for me, Ellen Burstyn as "Regan" 's mom - - I think it was her fear and concern for her daughter that increased the fear factor.

I had heard that was a true story about Shirley MacLaine and her daughter Sachi Parker. This post was edited by Lulu'sMom at October 31, 2018 1:18 PM MDT

I hadn't heard that, interesting! I had only heard that the book's author William Peter Blatty had based the story loosely on a young boy's experience.

I only now, by chance, came across your post here. Sorry for being late to respond!
