FYI. I was born exactly 1 month before the moon landing. So I agree. It was a great year.

I was 11 and watched the moon landing on TV. All I remember is they had a cigarette ad with a woman singing "Taste me taste me, come on and taste me … that's all Doral asks".

I was 9, and I also remember watching the moon walk in fuzzy black and white.

I like the numbers in that year! 1969.  What a delirious year.  I was 2 and already drooling... Big winks and smiles.

And what a year of exploring you had in front of you Element. 1969 was a year of curiosity, exploration, and satisfying accomplishments.  Zack, you are still the best thing that came right next to the moon.   Not many can have that claim.
1969 was a great year for both you and Zack!!

I've never seen a $500.00 bill, however, I've seen a payment due bill for $500.00 dollars.

I know.  Really bad wordage on that question, hu?  I had the $ sign in front of it first.  Then, I took it off and was going to spell out dollar.  I got side-tracked and posted it.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Big winks and smiles!

  • "No" ... always wanted one, but they stopped making them before I could afford to put $500 into a frame.  Now they're pretty much worthless, but you can get them in coin shops, if you are willing to pay too much for them.  :)

I would pay $500 for one and not a penny more!!  :) :)  After you bought the frame, it doesn't seem like a good investment.  It would be really cool to have one framed though.
How can they charge more than the face value?  Do they charge rent for storing it all those years?

  • When I checked on their value, years ago, they weren't worth very much.  It seems as though times have changed their value.  Now you have to spend more than their face value to get one and hope that the Treasury Dept. doesn't start making them again!

Wouldn't you just rather have $500 in 20s?

Perhaps back then.  Now-a-days, the dollar bill seems to be losing.  Element, I love ya but  I can't change out a $500 bill.  My drawers are so afraid someone will steal from me and the dollar is losing value.  It's not looking good for the $500.  Maybe we could do 2 hundred, instead?

Big Smiles!  This is why I rarely ask the questions and stick to answering them.  Not because I know a lot only because I suck at it!  I leave the asking to the professionals like Element, carbonproduct, ALF, Randy D, Zack, Cosmicwunderkund, YOU :) :), and all the others that ask good questions. :) :)  None-the-less, great answer! :) :)

Why are you asking me?  I didn't post the question. She explained above what happened with the $ sign.
