Whenever something extra ordinarily good happens for you, do you pretend that God must have done it for you?

But if you don't believe in God then you don't have to thank him.

Karma comes naturally as a result of you being a good person;  you earned   the benefits so you shouldn't really need to be thankful.  Karma may not even want to be thanked but just likes you to keep up the good works.

No, if you don’t believe in (any) God, then it goes along that there is no ”Him” to thank.

If it’s luck we’re talking about, then I assert that luck is a residue of effort, timing, and preparation, not a function of divine intervention.
Accordingly, there is no more cause to thank a god for my good fortune than to blame that god for my father-in-law slowly dying of cancer. Equally pointless efforts. This post was edited by Don Barzini at August 22, 2018 4:08 AM MDT

I thank God for everything every day good or bad!  Whether or not God had a hand in it - who knows?  But I am just grateful to God for everything.

  • There's no pretense to it or about it. All good things, wholesome and beneficial, come from the Throne of Grace. I've been the recipient of His mercy and grace for much too long to deny it. I've benefited from His miraculous healing power and gained comfort and peace through His providential hand. Hope and life reside in His word and His word endures forever.

    Nope.
It's either a result of my efforts, or random coincidence.

In answer to your question, if you don't believe in god you don't have to thank him... true!

I am very grateful and thankful every day for all the wonderful things I have.  I thank "The Universe" a lot and I do believe in God.  I thank him too.
