The last time you turned down a friend request here on AnswerMug, what was your reason, or what were your reasons? ~

(You are not being asked to name the person who sent you the request. Thank you.)

For me, it was because I didn't know anything about the sender, and when I asked for clarification, I received absolutely no reply, which made me assume that I was one of many people caught up in a barrage-request. No loss.

I didn’t know anything about the person who sent the request and I never engaged in any conversations with that person.

That's similar to my experience. When he/she then failed to respond to me, even after I declined the request, it reinforced my suspicion that it wasn't a sincere offer.

I‘m not one to decline, but I want to know something about the person. This post was edited by Rizz at September 9, 2018 7:00 AM MDT

  • "I don't turn down friends requests."

(Something that I learned on AnswerBag ... as soon as you turn them down, they can ask you again. If you don't accept or turn them down, they're done!)  Bwahahahaaa.

Send his/her name in private chat. I have a friend named Vinnie who loves to play baseball...

I don't understand what it is, so I tend to ignore it most of the time. I mean, if you're my friend, you don't need some approval on a computer screen.

  • It used to be that one member couldn't PM another member unless they were AM friends. :)  (I'm not sure that's still true.)

I always say yes, but I have only had a few requests. I do check their profile first.

  • Only one has added me.  I didn't turn them down.  I added everyone else.

Only one person has continually sent a friend request and have turned it down each time.

I'd aspire to be on an associate list with some AM'ers...

In this world of social media, the word “friend” is tossed around quite casually. You may have hundreds of “friends” on Facebook, but how many of these folks have truly got your back? A true friend is a treasure who is down for you in your darkest hours. An associate is someone who’s cool to chill with for a minute, but is not really checking for you.  (pasted verbatim)

Going back to MSNBC QnA,  (AB) Answerbag and presently AM, I still maintain my opinion of a friend's list...

How do you know if they are pervs?

Believe me, pervs announce themselves. Also, women can detect perviosity like non-smokers can detect the presence of smokers or smoking.

I am quite adept at hiding it.

Hiding "it"?  Which one, your perviosity, your smokerosity, or both?
