By dictionary definition they are. I would name them McBarfy's. I can see why you didn't put this in the 'Food and dining' category.

At least I made it to the toilet. I was on a long road trip and that could have been a disaster.

Yea, I'd call them restaurants.. I am generous and tolerant like that.. I don't eat MacD but as I understand it they have cleaned their act up a lot.. like they use, apparently, free range eggs etc. etc.. they provide fruit with their happy meals etc. etc..

So I'd call it a restaurant with a very select menu.. but when you think about it that's not that uncommon.. I like to eat at a particular French restaurant - the menu is very limited but it's always well cooked and they do my favourite thing in the universe, strawberry and black pepper sorbet..
MacD is not for everyone, it's not for me.. but I am happy if others want to eat there..

To most, by definition McDonald’s is a restaurant. I would argue because no sane and rational person would consider what they serve food.

No one should...the mince meat they use for burgers comes from one giant mixing pot....one infected cow can contaminate the whole batch...in America one young child died from eating just one burger ...it was shown on a documentary on Net-flicks :(

Oh, come on, it's common knowledge that you Brits don't know how to spell or pronounce English words correctly, and that goes double for you Cockneys.

  • In India McDonald's qualifies as an "eatery". Not quite in the same class as a restaurant.
And I hope the hair in the sandwich wasn't short and curly!
