What are some of your favorite song lyrics?

Here’s some of mine:
”I know I was born and I know that I’ll die, the in between is mine, I am mine.”

”Is something wrong?
she said
Of course there is
You’re still alive
she said
Oh and do I deserve to be?
Is that the question?
And if so, if so
Who answers? Who answers?
Oh ho I’m still alive...”

These two always come to mind when thinking about my faves:

    1) From Florence and the Machine's Shake it Out:  " I am done with my graceless heart, so tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart"  The entire song is incredibly inspirational to me; all about forgiving yourself.

    2) From Patty Griffin's Not Alone: "Nothing really matters in the end you know, all the worries sever. Don't be afraid for me, my friend, someday we all fall down forever" and "So you let time forgive the past and go and make some other plans".

    Thank you!

I was about to post again, wondering if you have Eddie Vedder's "Into the Wild" soundtrack. All of the songs on that albums are incredible.

I have to add this song. It addresses society’s fixation for tragedy in the news. Lyrics included in the video.

“Vicarious“ by Tool. It’s harder rock, but an amazing song.

    Wow!

He's not wrong, but I really, really like living in my hippie haze!I truly try to look at people and situations from a place of compassion rather than judgement.

Nothing wrong with taking a compassionate view on others.

Like SavvyAnsley, I hung onto that hippie haze line.

I need to accentuate a more so-called 'positive' outlook as opposed to the song's lyrics' emphasis -- but there is probably more than a grain of truth to Tool's song, for sure.
    I liked the song!

  • I watch you like a hawk.
I watch you like I'm gonna tear you limb from limb.
    Will the hunger ever stop?
Can we simply starve this sin?

That little kiss you stole, it held my heart and soul.
And like a deer in the headlights I meet my fate.
Don't try to fight the storm, you'll tumble overboard.
Tides will bring me back to you.

That just caused the hairs in my neck to stand out. I hope that one sticks in my head for the rest of the day. I can still hear John's little guitar coda.

It's the same every time this question is asked.

Pat Humphries - Swimming to the Other Side

    Artist: Pat Humphries

    Album: Hands

We are living neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we're all swimming to the other side
I am alone and I am searching
hungering for answers in my time
I am balanced at the brink of wisdom
I'm impatient to recieve a sign
I move forward with my senses open
    Imperfection it be my crime
    In humanity I will listen
We're all swimming to the other side
We are living neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we're all swimming to the other side
On this journey through thoughts and feeling
Finding intuition, my head my heart
I am gathering the tools together
I'm preparing to do my part
All of those who have come before me band together and be my guide
Loving lessons that I will follow
We are living neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we're all swimming to the other side
    *instumental solo*
When we get there we'll discover all of the gifts we were given to share
Have been with us since life's beginning and we never noticed they were there
We can balance at the brink of wisdom
    Never recognizing we've arrived
We're all swimming to the other side
We are living neath the Great Big Dipper
We are washed by the very same rain
We are swimming in the stream together some in power and some in pain
We can worship this ground we walk on cherishing the beings that we live beside
Loving spirits will live forever we're all swimming to the other side
