If someone here disagrees with one of your comments, do you continue to debate it or just let it go?

One can never win an internet argument.  Therefore, I let them go.

Well, the rule here is to 'respect" all opinions.  Unfortunately, the word "respect" has morphed into including "admiration" and "esteem."

It used to be that because you "respected" (saw clearly the background for and the error of) someone's opinion was the precise reason that a person neither admired nor esteemed that opinion.

That is why when I find a sufficiently egregious error in an answer or comment, I do correct it; but I never bother to read that person's reply to my correction.

Trolls don't ever want anyone to "let it go". Arguing a stupid point gives them fuel to put on the fire. It's fun to them. You take all that away by just making your point once and then letting it go. It's worked well for me even though I've only recently adopted this way of doing things. Let me make this clear. I'll discuss an issue until we get to the point where we are repeating ourselves.  Then I'm out.

I’ll debate depending how long the other remains civil. If I notice the other person is stubborn and close minded I end it immediately.

I'd just let it go. Everybody's got the right to be wrong sometimes.

I don't waste my time. If someone can't see that I am right, continuing to debate is unlikely to change their mind.

Depends on the person and the nature of the disagreement. 

I have to copy off of Don Barzini's paper for this one. I agree with him - it depends on the person and the disagreement.

I may reply initially, especially if I feel misunderstood.  But will not engage in unpleasant differences of opinions by commenting further.  I get enough of that with family lol

Let it go, otherwise it will just be a dialogue of the deaf. 

They don't want to hear you, and just possibly you don't want to hear them either.

I don't know as I debate it but I will explain myself hoping they will better understand.
