We had one come here to an air show and it did a fly-by. I missed it. However, when the Thunderbirds were in town a couple of years ago, they flew directly over my house at about 500 feet and 500 MPH. It was awesome. They scared my wife, as she had never seen such a thing.

The plane in your accompanying photo bears the unit designation VMFA-212, meaning:

    V stands for aircraft squadron
M stands for US Marine Corps
    F stands for fighter (air-to-air)
    A stands for attack (air-to-ground)

US Marine Corps fighter/attack squadron 212.   This is a dual-purpose aircraft in that it can engage enemy aircraft with machine guns and/or missiles, and it can also be fitted with bombs for attacking enemy ground positions or enemy ships.  Depending on which variant of the aircraft it is, it is either single-seater or double-seater.

I didn't see that. I know what F/A means. We have a squadron of these here at the 180th ANG station.

Not today.  U-2's are far more common around here (they make a sound unlike any other)

    No.  You don't.

Anyone who slays dragons does not come at them in a tin can already packed for the barbque that you will soon be inside there.

What are you going to do?  Throw that ax at him?   His head alone, is bigger than 10 of you.  Even a gigantic crossbow the size of a MAC truck doesn't work.

Get a job.  LOL   Just Kidding.  Stay home and watch this amazing show.  It's really good.
