Thanks for the link Sharon. Jim LOVES cornbread and sez his mom made the best in the world. She had passed away before we met. Jim despises sweet cakey cornbread. Sez it isn't the real deal. I've tried dozens of different recipes through the years and some are pretty okay. But none is as good as hers. Too soon old too late schmart! :)

I prefer Jiffy cornbread, the best of both worlds. Sweet and firm.

There is not an ounce of nutrition or flavor in that box.

It's good for making dough balls to use as carp bait.

You fish for fish using it as bait? ???

Yes, you make dough balls and knead them around the hook. Can use bread or cereal as well.
They just kind of suck on the ball and before they realize it they are hooked.

I was fishing for carp on the bank of the river many years ago, but was having no luck. A couple of old guys were hauling them in one after another. I asked them what they were using for bait and they gave me this small dough-ball and said it was just flour, water and ground up Wheaties. Within ten minutes I had a fish.

Clearly I know nothing about fishing m2c. I wonder who in the heck was the first person to try it and succeed? Every day I'm astonished by learning something or the other. Cornbread doughballs wrapped around a fish hook. Guess that is better than using live bait. Right? Thank you for the info! :)

Unless you fish, it would be hard for you to understand.

Tastes good to me. It has as much nutrients as any other cornbread.

NO it does not.  It is denatured, filled with sugar that is empty calories and filled with preservatives.

Cooked food in general has little nutrition, but boxed cooked food is garbage.  And Jiffy is the cheapest of them all.

UGH.  Eat some healthy stuff. Cheeseburgers are NOT food.  No matter what Trump likes.

LARD AND HYDROGENATED LARD? OMG. OMG. OMG. Did I ever mention to you that HYDROGENATED is what solid CRISCO shortening is. But LARD comes from animals which is EVEN WORSE. Like eating the fat off the roast or chicken fat or pork fat.. Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated will clog up your arteries faster than butter.Lard is in canned refried beans.. We only eat fat-free refried beans. at? LARD! OMG. OMG. OMG.

Refusing to address the HARMFUL ingredients is not gonna hack it with me m2c. They can make food with POISON and if there is anything remotely edi le in it you will highlight that and ignore the POISON. Do you really think I buy that? If you feed your family stuff like that you really ought to read up on it and learn what you are doing to them. Seriously. Thank you for this blowup of MEANINGLESS information.  SIGH. Oh well. All I can do is try. It's up to you to do. This post was edited by RosieG at February 11, 2019 3:34 PM MST

Sweet is not Jim's cuppa tea cornbread-wise m2c. He is a Texas boy who grew up on his mom's cornbread! Thank you for your reply and Happy Monday to thee! :)

I don't eat cornbread. Probably because we ate so much of it when I was a youngster.
