Men stopped being hunter gatherers when the first supermarkets came about......canned  beer and tv then sealed there fate as their usefulness was over.......most live a sedentary life and are easier to care for once gelded .....

That's why I shop. She can't pass by the bakery without grabbing  a $4 package of cookies. She doesn't know how to look for sales etc.

No, I didn't know; but I always like to include a reference if I can.

And do they "start" fires as that word is usually understood as applying to "building" a fire?

More like they use a tool (a burning stick) from a fire, cary it to another location, and start the fire there.

I watched a Sir David Attenborough documentary about them.....the Black Kites don't have pocket to carry matches or indeed money to buy them ,so they mostly pick up burning sticks and fly them to different locations to start  new  fires and get smal rodents running....  :)

How the Blazes they worked that out is amazing...:)

We have more "wild" (forest) fires in the USA; perhaps USA hawks don't have to work as hard for food.
