If I slept well, I'm not. I was two mornings ago. I was dreaming about getting it on with the high school principal and the alarm went off. What does it take to ungrumple me? Two cups of coffee and a silent wife. This post was edited by Element 99 at March 19, 2019 7:29 PM MDT

My high school principal was a guy that looked like Drew Carey.  Exactly like him.  Did your principal look like him?

I was referring to the one at the last school I taught at. She was hot. I can see why you would be confused.

I really wasn't.  It was a good excuse to make a stupid joke.

Grumpy Element sat in his bed
with 2 cups of coffee, lonely, and rubbing his head...

  • I can’t deal with anyone until I have my first cup of coffee. After that I’m nice enough in the morning. Before, stay the hellz away from me.

Not exactly grumpy, but I don't like having to talk to anyone until after I leave for work.

I live alone so I cannot tell.   I think I am okay most mornings, and I am not very good company if I am tired.  No matter what time of day.

    The end.

He lived here for over a year and then moved into his own pad.

It is all good.  He is still here in Phoenix and I still am in touch.

We do, the Resident Labradors know it is their house _ we just cover expenses.  I do wish they would learn how to run the coffee maker

I love the fact you created your own word!  It is totally understandable and acceptable in my world. :)
With that in mind, I am quite the contrary.  I am a Merlinasize (the pronunciation spelling) the day sort of being. I greet every day with happy thoughts and good vibes anticipating the adventures it will bring.

Now, about degrumpinizing the person sleeping next to me, well, there are many means in which to do this.
Never let the alarm clock wake them.  It is rude and obnoxious.  Who wants to start their day with a bell or music blaring at them?  A cup of coffee in bed, a kiss from your favorite pooch, or a purr in the ear is much better.
Make sure they are awake with enough time to enjoy a few moments.  Take in the sunrise.  Enjoy coffee/tea, peacefully.  Maybe stretch.  Go for a run or a swim.  Whatever sets the mood for the day.  Don't start behind the gun.
Know what they are going to wear the night before so they don't frantically look for socks!
The best of all to relax and degrumpinize in the morning, if you have the option, is sex.  It definitely sets for a "Happy Happy Mood" throughout the day.

All I have to say to that is, "don't screw with me or it'll cost you."

No.  I don't want to talk in the morning and, for heaven's sake, don't start asking me questions in the morning.  When my kids were little they would come in very early to let me know that since they were awake, we must all be awake.  I remember them starting with the questions.  I learned to say to them:  Go back into your room and watch that skinny hand on your clock that goes the fastest....when it has gone around 10 times then I want you to come back in here.  Usually they were back in five minutes but, sometimes that is just enough.

    A poem for mornings:

    Coffee.
    Coffee.
    Coffee.
    Shut the f*** up.
    Coffee.

Very seldom.  Six and a half to seven hours sound sleep works wonders.
