  • I can’t think of one. I watch what I want wouldn’t care about controversy either way.

  • That wouldn't be a reason for me to not see a movie. There are movies I won't watch because they seem like they may be too violent or disturbing, or I feel that they may be boring or otherwise off-putting. But "controversial" alone won't prevent me from seeing a movie.

    None.
I refuse to watch movies because they don't interest me.

Though I will consider buying a book that's controversial.  Especially if there is talk of banning it.
When they started talking about banning "The Turner Diaries" - I immediately bought a copy.

I enjoyed the four answers posted thus far and, in most cases, I think along the same lines with those answers.

The closest movie for me to fit your question -- "The Human Centipede."
Sort of like Nevan B stated, this movie is known, it seems, for its disturbing quality and, for that, I avoid it. However, its disturbing quality seems to me to approach a controversial level -- in my life, from a myriad of people in various and different parts of my life; people who do not know each other -- EVERYONE who talked about the movie told me not to watch it. They all said to avoid it at all costs. And I have.

Reminds me of a joke I received the other day:

GOD:  How many more creatures do we have?

    ANGEL: Two.

GOD: And how many legs do we have left?

    ANGEL: One hundred.

    CENTIPEDE:  Dibs!

    SNAKE:  Asshole

  • Controversy alone is not reason enough for me to refuse seeing a movie.  Actually it will often rebelliously point me in the direction of certain flicks.  For me, it is more about the reasons behind it being controversial that either draws me in or sends me away.  Some subject matter I can handle, some I can't.  Extremely violent cruelty (often nick-named torture porn) I just am not able to stomach.  There are a number of horror movies today that really "go there."  I have continually refused to watch "Hostel" and the rest of that ilk.  But not all controversial topics repel me.  Edgy or overtly taboo sexual content often will pique my interest.  Just last night I watched a very provocative yet artistic movie called "In A Glass Cage."  I enjoyed it, which I am not sure what that says about me, however many find that film to be highly inappropriate and in extremely poor taste.  I find that I usually determine these things on a case by case basis.  So butter up that popcorn everyone, and enjoy the show! I got through about the first 18 minutes of "Hostel" - - saw where it seemed to be going and I stopped watching and I never returned.

I don't know if it was controversial but I saw the last 5 minutes of Natural Born Killers and I was so upset and disgusted that I refuse to ever watch it.  Ever!
