What are qualities that most draw your interest in someone else?

  • Intelligence, wit, a good sense of humor, open-mindedness, strong but sensitive, the ability to read my mind, knows how to brew a good cup of coffee, makes my eggs the way I like them, speaks just the right amount, puts the toilet seat down after using it, and likes cats.

    I'm not very picky.

Any friend willing and able to meet these items would be a good friend, regardless. No?

Oh yeah, I forgot.  If they have a seaworthy fishing boat and a cabin in the Rocky Mountains both of which I get to use, they're a cinch to become a life-long friend.  Maybe they could fund development of my inventions too.

You won't agree with this but, allow me to indulge you, someone who loves me as Jesus loves me. Unconditionally. And, I have that kind of love.

First of all, Congratulations. Love is life.

This isn’t at all about what I agree with, this is about sharing perceptions. Much can be learned from others outside of the bounds of bias. Would that more people recognized the value of such an idea.

  • In person, I need a smile, whether shy or boisterous.  On the internet, a glutton for punishment. :P

  • Kindness.  Genuine kindness.  Simple as that.  I figure if that person has a kind heart then everything else like honesty, intimacy, and faithfulness will sort of take care of itself.

Thanks, Baba. This seems rarer anymore. Maybe it’s just the public face people have to wear in these times, when incivility is the new normal.

In general I'm drawn to people who are genuine, can laugh at themselves as well as at others, makes me laugh, intelligent, and basically what I call a doer (as opposed to being a watcher).
