  • I've never been. I have an online friend who's from Connecticut but currently lives in Rhode Island because he's attending college at Brown.

When I think of Rhode Island I think of Family Guy and old money Newport millionaires.

Well, that points out three things.  Money, Brown U. is there, and Family Guy.

I never realized Family Guy was in Rhode Island.  LOL

The school is called the 'Senior Enlisted Academy'. It is for upper grade level enlisted ranks in the Navy (E8, E9), and one a member of a different. We learned much of the historical, tactical and poli1tical sides of the Navy. Daily physical fitness training also. It was a bitter cold winter with high winds, so we didn't go sight seeing anywhere. I was in the 21st class and there were thirteen of us. I roomed with Sgt Major Sam Spears from the army.

You know this is how rumors start...
Element and ol' Sgt Major Sam Spears, at school, rooming together, on a cold winters night....
Just Playin'.  I know you don't swing that way.  I'm sorry if I offended you.  I mean no harm.  I'm foolin' around and startin' rumors!!  Maybe I should delete this, hu? This post was edited by Merlin at June 17, 2019 12:38 PM MDT

NH has mountains (more like Vermont). RI is pretty well flat. ;)

Again, just one more NOT interesting thing about RI.  Not you.  Your reply was interesting for sure.  But RI doesn't seem to be.

One of my fellow Marines was from Providence Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  He was a really good man, down to earth.  I don’t know much about the place, though.

Okay.  That clue is solved.  You know the one where we can try and figure out what Rhode Island is like.  So, now we know that RI is capable of producing good men.  Whew. Case almost closed now.

You're right.  You rarely hear about Rhode Island or people from there.  In fact, I don't know anybody from there that has admitted to it.
It seems like it would be quaint and very into their own state sort of place.
I really don't know. This post was edited by Merlin at June 17, 2019 12:36 PM MDT

Why do you say it's a strange place to be from, yet you know no one from there.  I have quite a few neighbors from Rhode Island, and yes, I like all of them.

Because, Thrify, as usual, I had my head up my keester.    Here is my response to Archer. Same to you.

I know I have a lot of nerve saying it is a strange place to be from.  I have met a lot of people in my life and I cannot recall anyone from there.  I used to call all over the USA and I don't recall any calls to Rhode Island. Maybe they have telemarketing restrictions that are actually put into operation that work.

Anyway, I have a lot of nerve.   Guilty as charged. Just my own small  (very small) perspective.
