  • Oddly enough there are two places I can always count on to be open anytime day or night
The beautiful old Gothic style Episcopalian church not to far from where I lay my head
and the Metro Onion Adult Book Store in the opposite direction halfway downtown.
I can always depend on God and Satan to be in competition with one another.
You can decide for yourself which one represents which.
All I know is, if I'm ever bored at night, I have a place to go to be on my knees
either to pray or to play.

In the interest of full disclosure
    there is a 24 hour Walmart and a Denny's
    but, I mean really.
The church and the Adult store have far more atmosphere.

Yes indeed. You get used to it and plan around for the closures.  I love the Tourists on Sunday's who are shocked to find the stores closed.  they have to go out have a meal and a glass of wine and actually experience life outside of a store and the internet

I remember when our ship pulled into Palma de Mallorca for a two day stop, we were a bit perturbed when we went ashore around noon and nothing was open.

    (Sundays)

Plural noun, not possessive singular noun.

Clearly, you aren't referring to the tourists in NYC where the stores are open on Sundays.

Spunky I am talking about the Civilized World, primarily the EU and a few other locales.

I figured. :)  Although, at one time, New Jersey's stores were closed on Sunday.  Not sure if that's still true.

Not to the best of my knowledge.  I have never seen such a thing, now Saturday closings are a different story.  Head over to Livingston, or try B&H in NYC on a Saturday.  It appears some in the US keep the Sabbath, some do not.

BTW my alternative housing is in NJ, close to our US facilities

Yes, there are still many Religious Jewish storekeepers on the Lower East Side and they do close on Saturdays.

Definitely... even more than once to the same place.
    My lure to this
    French Pastry place
    with freshly baked Croissants
    overcomes my senses.

If your gym is closed because it's moving a new location, that's understandable. But if they aren't telling you where the new location is, that's another thing entirely.

Swimming in public pools is like taking a bath with dozens of strangers. Enjoy!

Last year I went to Wisconsin and there was a circus-themed restaurant in Madison I just loved but when we got there the last time it was shut down and abandoned so yeah, kind of ruined my day.
