I do not know. I can not imagine a concept of one flavor being “more important” than any other.

Who are you and what have you done with Randy? Randy would have grasped the humor and appreciated the hyphen in Jell-o.

I also don't see any tilde. This post was edited by Jane S at August 19, 2019 2:13 PM MDT

Lime Jell-o is not only the Jell-o of choice in the Midwest, but it's hard to imagine that other parts of the country can celebrate Christmas, St. Patrick's Day or even Easter without it. Now, red Jell-o is important on certain special days, but that is a color that can come in several flavors.

I've never heard of this as a tradition and I am from the Midwest.  OK. If you say so.

I came from Chicago mostly and we ate the fancy Jello with the cream cheese mixed in and that sort of thing for holidays, but never a color for an occasion. Makes sense though.

    I'm having a tastbud battle.
Half my mouth says lime and the other cherry.
It depends on whether I'm thirsty and hung over of just eating it for my nails and hair.
As a general rule, I only eat jello for those two reasons.  Oh, and when I have a sore throat, I'll dine on some divine squirmming Jell-o dessert, too.
    What a squiggley poll. I like it! :) :)

Sore throat.  Zinc and slippery elm tea and tons of vitamin C.

Now you just have to eat it cuz it tastes good.

Did you know Jello is a fine source of minerals?  That's because gelatin is made from animal bones! Look it up.

I'm pretty sure it is almost impossible to digest.  Look it up.

Jello Nutrition Facts. However, while Jello is especially low in bad things, such as fat, it is also on the low side when it comes to good things too. Meaning it actually offers no nutritional value at all. Dieters are quick to disagree though, especially those who have a mean sweet tooth that can lead them off the healthy eating path. Not just bones.
I worked for Kraft Foods and had the opportunity to support site IT services for their Atlantic Gelatin plant for a short bit. Here is a high overview:

Dump Trucks arrive at the back and dump the remains of Pigs, Cows and whatever which is mostly comprised of skin, tendons, ligaments, and/or bones and what have you onto the concrete floor inside the plant.

Front end loaders then scoop up these items which are usually rotten and covered with flies and deposit the material into a giant blender.

Then all the ground up animal remains is dumped into vats where they are super boiled on high heat to extract the collagen (which is a form of protein).

The Collagen is skimmed off and run through large ovens where it is baked and dried it. It has now taken a pure white form.

Then it is ground up.  That is Gelatin. Go on. Stick it in your mouth

I think chicken flavored Jello is best.  Whenever I buy "chicken" processed into lunch meat, I think it is a lot like that.  We don't buy it anymore; we buy the real thing.  It's a little more work to cook it and slice it yourself but jeez, it's more than worth it.

If you are talking about the "gel" from chicken juices, YES. That stuff is amazing.

Yeah?  If it wasn't sweet, I'd agree that it is the most versatile meaning you could add sugar or not and use it as a savory base too. (put cold sea food in it) but I DO like LEMON jello.  So, no argument.

Nothing makes water, artificial flavoring, colors, and ground-up dehydrated rotten animal carcasses taste better than hard-boiled eggs and peas
