    Remember, it's not a bug, it's a feature.

I admit I might not completely understand your comment but I think you might mean that, in the long run, "it's all good."

Have never been diagnosed with it.
I have undercurrent so anxiety about various things:
    - fear when my husband exceeds the speed limit, and when he revs or breaks jerkily at the last minute on turns and at crossroads, etc
    - a kind of nervousness when I meet people whom I greatly admire
    - discomfort in large, random groups of people at places like parties
    - performance when I have to get up in front of a crowd
    - finishing a piece of writing in time for deadlines
    - surviving to the end of the month on a limited remittance
    - managing the weeds on 64 acres

I do have a friend who has been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder. In her case, it's closely connected with being OCD.
On the up-side, she's extremely conscientious and tends to excel in everything she does.
On the downside, her fear of not producing perfection makes her a nervous wreck before every due date.
She'll be awake for 48 hours supercharged on coffee, editing, refining and honing to the last second.
For her, it's a kind of torture.

I'm afraid that I'm a doubter about many anxiety diagnoses.  Yes, I know people who claim and embrace them.

Others have told me that, too, or similar thoughts. I understand.

I believe my GAD diagnosis is valid. My doctor ruled out other possibilities and took his time, over time, in the diagnosis. I do not embrace the diagnosis but acknowledging it and discussing it at times can help me. (Obviously, I have close people in my life with whom I talk/share/all that, as we journey on our lives together.)
I realize I have probably talked about this more than once on the site.
