They KNOW impeachment is inevitable. What they plan to fight is removal from office. Odds?

Unless something changes dramatically, I think the chances of Trump being convicted and removed from office are quite small.

I have read several conversations with GOP members of Congress (some of them even on the record), where they admit Trump's
actions are troubling. But they invariably also note that their constituents demand that the lawmakers protect and defend Trump.

So, if you are a GOP member of Congress and you believe Trump's misdeeds warrant his removal, you are committing political suicide
    by acting on those beliefs.

I just don't see many Senators being willing to lose their jobs to protect Constitutional principles.

How sadly dangerous and tragic is that SP? For a man I equate with scum which 4D clearly is. So then his supporters and adoring worshippers and the toady sycophant lemmings who kiss his a** 24/7 must think scum is priceless. Giving up all pretense of honor integrity truth patriotism they grovel at his feet and belly crawl behind him. Amazing how despicable they have become or rather always were. Just waiting for that devil savior. SIGH. I wonder how this will end? Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I wish they'd get some cajones and backbone and spine. Too late or they never had them in the first place?.

  • But you do see many Representatives grinding Constitutional principles into the dirt to achieve conviction and removal. There is far more at stake here than the removal of Trump. The future of the presidency and the direction of jurisprudence in this nation for those of us that may need legal protection under the law, might be forever altered to remove some civil liberties. If we move to a presumption of guilt in the system, then God help us all.

    No, I don't see that.

I see Congress doing its Constitutionally-mandated duty trying to hold the Executive branch accountable for its behavior.

I am sure if you dig hard enough, you can find examples of where they did not dot every "i" and cross every "t." But, in general, they are doing what they are supposed to do.

Sadly, they have little chance of that.  Even if they did win, he'd refuse to go.  The best they can hope for is that the american people to see what he did/is and not re elect him.  Not much chance of that.  Half of the country has welded blinders to their faces.

The new president may have to send in the military to remove 4D's a** from the Oval Office. He is the most obnoxious homo sap who ever lived. Take all the worst possible characteristics of homo saps and put them in one fat body. What you get is Jabba the Hut aka 4D. A gargantuan sloth that causes you to cringe even looking at it/him/them/they/whatever it is. It keeps getting worse. Does that mean eventually it will get better? Thank you for your reply Shuhak. Tune in tomorrow. More happenings gonna be happening.

Perhaps we should call him "pizza the hut" (like in the movie Spaceballs).

  • Thanks for clarifying your position Rosie. In all the years I've known you, I've always suspected that you favor government by military junta the way the banana republics do it. But maybe this soft and spoiled nation could use some instability and hard times to bring it around to a little sensibility. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at December 6, 2019 3:44 PM MST

    Dear Ground,

Yes, if I could ever define that Rosie, it would be a woman who favors military juntas.  How astute.

That is one year away Sharon. Think of all the damage 4D will do until then. The Republican Senators have been castrated by a fat old orange man. How proud they must be of that. Thank you for your reply.

Odds of removal 0%. It is not gonna happen.
Odds of Trump winning re-election 80%.

4 states will decide this year. Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Your "odds" for Trump's impeach removal are accurate because one need merely count up the number of Senators willing to convict.

Your' "odds" for Trump's reelection are meaningless because it's nearly impossible to build a sufficiently complex model for which we have accurate data. If you can tell me whether or not the 15,000 or so Detroit-area Democrats who voted for Obama in 2012 but stayed home in 2016 (thereby giving Trump the state of Michigan) will show up in 2020, you might convince me you have a predictive model. But you can't. Multiply that predictive uncertainty by dozens of other factors and your "odds" are nonsense.

As with any election, turning out your base is the most important.  It is not the "independent" voters who swing an election. It is which side excites and gets their base out to vote.

Now what do you think this impeachment joke has done for Trump's base? Trust me...we are voting.
Now what will it do for the Dem base?  Some it may excite to vote others maybe disheartened and become cynical about the whole process.

Republicans....we are more than 35%. We were enough to win.

Only a little over half of the states require party registration. And based on that there is only one percent between Rep and Dems.

You know what kills me? You get a big thrill saying this.  Like it is a good thing you are bragging about.   I am so sorry for you.  I'd rather know.  You make things worse on all of us with your denial of reality.  You and that 35 percent.

The moron Senate are cowards and they will swing whichever way the voters blow.   And Trump is not as popular as you think he is.  He is LOATHED.  There are a lot of people that think he is GOD'S GIFT to the Evangelicals. There are MORE people who don't.

I am right and you are not right.

Exactly! I am not naive enough to think I know what's going to happen between now and then.

Most people do not remember, but in mid-2008 coming out of the GOP convention, the Obama/Biden and Old Fart/Bimbo tickets were roughly tied in the polls. Then the world economy melted down and the rest is history.

In 2016, the Satan's Representative On Earth (per evagelicals)/Tim Kaine ticket had an "insurmountable" poll lead going into the final 2 weeks or so. Then James Comey decided to make the Tim Weiner laptop stuff public and...we know the rest.

Who knows what 2020 will bring.

Yep that is what if any of Hillary's excuses that mattered. Comney. Obama should have fired him in the summer and missed a 2nd time right after before the election. And Trunp should have fired him on Jan 20 2017. And we could have saved out millions we wasted on the Mueller report.

But as long as the economy continues to prosper.(Unemployment at 50 yr low today) Trump will win.

Who is Comney?  That guy who helped mess up the fact that Hilary is not president?  He was trying to be honest.  He screwed up royally.  But then again, that is a NORMAL screw up by an honest person.  Comey didn't raw dog a porn star.  Comey didn't cover it up by paying his personal attorney off and then let him rot in jail.  Comey didn't do that and the 10 million other things Trump has done that even Hitler did not.

Wanna keep it going?  I am in that mood.
