    Man, back in 2008-2009 it was government overreach in its enforcement of the CRA that led to the economic collapse, and all the right-wingers were going to follow Rick Santelli in "going Galt" to protest it.

    Now the right-wingers are saying Clinton made a mistake in signing the legislation (authored by 3 Republicans) which deregulated the banking industry in the late 1990s?

    I wish they'd get their story straight...

    He had a filibuster-proof Senate in name only. On major policy issues, Sen. Joe LIEbermann didn't follow the Democrat lead. Also, both Edward Kennedy and another Senator (whose name I forget) were seriously ill and had trouble coming in for votes. The amount of time Obama had a filibuster-proof Senate (even in theory) was between 50 and 100 days.

    Meanwhile, the GOP had decided since 2006 to filibuster EVERYTHING and the House was in GOP control for 3/4ths of Obama's term.

    Not that I'm a great fan of Obama, but I think it's important to keep a grip on reality.

    Obama did not get the super majority until Jun 30, 2009. And only had it until Feb 2010.

     

    The Senate passed OC in Dec 24, 2009.  (Not on Rep vote...so yes the filibuster proof majority was required)

     

    It was first had to pass the House and they did not introduce it until Sept. 2009. And did not pass it until Nov 2009.

     

    So we have...Sept thru Dec 2009....looks like 3 months to me.

    Obama inherited the worst Depression since the Great one, and turned the economy around. He also created more jobs in his last two years than Trump did in his first two - and His Royal Orangeness inherited a repaired and growing economy. Which is slowing again due to his pointless d**k-measuring contest with Chairman Li.

    Obama created 8.9 million jobs by the end of December 2016, a 6.2 percent increase. There were 152.3 million people employed at the end of his term. That's compared to 143.4 million working at the end of the Bush administration. 


    President Trump created 4.7 million jobs in his first two years. That's a 3.1 percent increase over the 152.3 million people working at the end of Obama's term. Trump passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017.
