Is there a song you simply can not "get enough of"?

The Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town" is WAY up there for me.

God, I love this group; literally all of their music on the three albums I have is wondrous for me.

And the music video to "Life in a Northern Town" enhances  the song beautifully.

I like that Little Feat song.

For some reason, I don't know why,  I've never liked Seger's classic. i've yet to figure out any reason why I don't like it. The song is great, as is Seger and Band. The song somehow does not get to me.

I'm not sure why some songs resonate with us and others don't.

Couldn't think of this one when I was posting earlier.  Finally dredged it up from the archives of my mind!

I love that Dildo song, too. Never heard it before. I lolled up the song lyrics and read them after first listening to only opening seconds of the song. And I looked closer at the video.
    Very cool to me.  :)

OMG  - - ha! Forgive me, Lord, for lol'ing after just the first five seconds of your second song.  :)

Unsure if you meant to post the songs three times.

    Gets me every time.

I was listening to some classic Neil Young earlier - how come he doesn't seem to get much love around here?

I love everything by Bernard Herrmann! "Taxi Driver" was his last movie score he composed! :)

And he wrote the music to Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" - - if I were forced to choose, I'd choose Herrmann's score for "Psycho" as the best score to any movie I've seen. Yet, his music for "Taxi Driver" is way up there for me ,too.
What you posted here is breathtaking to me. I've always liked it, too. :)

    Very cool.

    Hehe, can't argue against it - he's a legend.

I think what's really special about this main theme of Taxi Driver is the way Scorsese uses it. The allure of a kind of isolation, like Travis is experiencing. It even plays when Sport dances with the 12-year-old Iris, so then it becomes repelling by association but even that doesn't last. Travis goes through his cycle, and the song turns soothing again... for the time being.

There's this similar reworking on YouTube, and the top comment was written by Ronny Lang, the saxophonist himself. Not only was this Herrmann last score, like you said, but he actually died in his sleep the day after recording.

I didn't know that about the timing of his dying. That made me cry just now. Makes me like it even more.

Mr. Herrmann, you have enraptured my soul so often. RIP.

(I even choreographed a dance for dancers to the music for the opening film credits to "Psycho.")
