If they had a nightmare, or awoke in distress, we were both okay with it. Not long term - co-sleeping with a child is almost always a bad idea.

My ex-husband was against it. Any man I've ever seriously dated since the divorce has been ok with it and spoke fondly of the times when their kids would come to bed with them.

They had to go to bed in their bed. If they woke up and had a bad dream or just woke up etc they were welcome to climb in.
We have same rule for the grandkids.

It wasn't forbidden but both of mine always went to bed in their own bed.  They would sometimes invade us during the night, especially if it was thundering.  I would never allow sleeping with parents to be the norm.
