I was such a quiet shy kid that school was my only opportunity to make friends (and I did). I think in the long run I appreciated the social aspects of school more than the academic, although I was always a good student. Homeschooling is a good option for kids who don't do well in a traditional school environment or in a place where schools are sub-par. My parents didn't hesitate to tutor me when I needed help, though, and they arranged for a private tutor to teach me some material that was not covered in school.
