What is your favorite kind of tree?

Here in the northern climate we do not have many kinds of really beautiful trees. Then they look so drab in winter lacking any foilage.
I like the kinds of trees I have seen in the south where the trunk is very thick and they have a great wide spread of branches.

Sugar maples.  They turn the most beautiful shades of red and gold in the Fall.

Not only that, but the shape of the tree is also beautiful.

The Weeping Willow and the Jacaranda Tree.

Unfortunately the Weaping Willow likes a lot of water and should not be planted near a house I was told.  The roots are drawn to the homes water pipes.

One of the buildings on the next block has two weeping willows in the front.  We had a very rainy season one year and one of them came right out of the ground because the roots are very shallow.  They planted another one in it's place and the following year, both trees came down - never to be replaced.

Alder trees because they take in more carbon and put out more oxygen the most other types of trees plus they put oxygen into the soil which is good for the soil and organisms living in the soil. Cheers!

One of my favorites as well. It is like a ballet dancer when a gentle breeze blows its leaves.

Too many favorites.  I am particularly fond of the Plum, Dogwood, Pear, English Cherry, and would love to live where I could have a few Blue Spruce trees in my yard.
