I don't know why you feel that why. But maybe sit back and "chill" ( chill, literally, with the setting of many of his stories, ha) and read some of his excellent-to-me short stories, like "To Build a Fire" and "The White Silence."
My father Welby ask have you read The Call Of The Wild? It was his favorite it seemed. Sea Wolf! Which he was because he was a avid fisherman who loved the sea. And he hunted for real as a kid in the the blue mountains of Massachusetts. He was called Salty Dog! French Canadian wore red black heavy flannel. He also came from country boy friends. Technocrat. Worked at Raytheon built patriot missiles in engineering.

I've read "Call of the Wild," too, yes. I'd do well to read it again. I don't think I've read "The Sea Wolf," though. I'd also do well to explore more of London's works. I know I've liked what I've read of London.
