It's very true what he says about conformity, I'd absolutely agree with that, "Gathering of facts and skills can only lead to our own chaos and destruction, we send our children to school from which they can eventually learn a livelihood, wanting to make the child, first a foremost, a specialist, and so giving him a secure economic position, but does the cultivation of a technique enable us to understand ourselves." Funny how most of the books we find life-changing are those that show us something about our insides.  Thanks Danilo G. This post was edited by kjames at March 7, 2019 11:56 AM MST

Right; nothing wrong with facts and skills--on the contrary--unless we're bending ourselves to those while ignoring how much of what we assume true and important is not. You're very welcome! This post was edited by Danilo_G at March 7, 2019 3:43 PM MST

  • I read "The Diary of Anne Frank" when I was a kid.  It made me see how strong young people can be when they need to be.  No young or old person should ever have to live like that!!!

Can you believe the POWER that little book had?  It was more than just a little book.  God was talking through that little soul.  The Divine always comes in a humble package.

Sai Baba Man of Miracles  by Howard Murphet

India has always nurtured true yogins--those who have transcended the lower self, those in whom wonder-working powers of siddhis have flourished. These powers, or some of them, have been brought into the research laboratories of the para-psychologists who call them extra-sensory perception and psycho-kinesis. Others call them miracles. Whatever the terminology, such powers and their practitioners demand sensible attention. This account relates some of the achievements of one of the most impressive men of miracles to appear in centuries. Satya Sai Baba--his followers believe him to be a reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi who died in 1918--appears to have been born with phenomenal powers, which he used in childhood and has employed constantly and openly ever since. They include all the varieties of E.S.P. and P.K. known to psychic science and more besides. The author, a Westerner devoted to science and logic, spent many months with Satya Said Baba; he claims to have found that his "unscientific," "illogical" miracles were, in fact, genuine yogic siddhis. He found, too, that along with Christ-like miraculous powers went a Christ-like love, compassion and the God-knowledge that opens the door to a new vision of life.

Thank you for your reply Trump/Jon Un, from looking at the book it does come recommended, I know there was some controversy over Sai Baba Man as to whether he was a fraud, it West against East, I'll take a look and decide for myself.  I know a lot of Eastern teaching is valid and helpful in such a consumer culture of the West. I'm glad that his message has helped you in your life.  I've read a few books by Antony de Mello, who was a Jesuit priest, but then learnt towards Eastern teaching and was ostracized from the Catholic Church as a result, I've found a number of his books very helpful in my life, I think we could all benefit from some of the Eastern teachings, good day :) This post was edited by kjames at March 7, 2019 4:53 PM MST
