Have you had cataract surgery? What type of lens did you get and how is your vision now?

    Yes, I had cataract surgery on both eyes. Had to go in for a leans cleaning, they did not get all of the muck on the lens, still can "see" debris they left behind.  Had bad eye pain on my right eye for at least 6 months after the "cleaning."  Not going back for additional cleaning until it gets much worse. Until I had an eye exam I was unaware the new lenses could get dirty then they referred me to a place that cleans them.

    What do you mean cleaning?  Is that the laser process?

    I haven't had cataract surgery myself.  My sister and my best friend had it done, but I don't know what kind of lenses they got.  Neither of them have had any trouble since the surgery.

    Thanks. I'm facing it a lot sooner than I expected and I didn't know there were choices.

    Frankly, I didn't know there were choices either.

    EDIT:  I just took a look on Google for what are the different types of lenses.  It appears there are three kinds, but I'm sure you already know this.

    Yes.  I have the standard lens that most insurers don't question.  I could not be happier.  It was 12 years ago and my vision is still 20/20 and clear as a bell.  My current  ophthalmologist comments every time he checks my vision.

    That's good to hear. I don't mind the out of pocket for the multi focal lens, but I worry about the side effects.

    My sister got lenses one eye for reading and one for far-away.  She was nauseated and dizzy all the time and got those replaced.  I cannot even imagine.  But I am one of those people who can get dizzy just thinking about being up high.

    There are also trifocal lenses that sounded good until I looked into it further.

    I'm happy to use reading glasses for up close.  When I put them on and remove them I close my eyes to keep from experiencing that change in focus.
