The humble potato is the world's most versatile vegetable.

How many different ways do you know how to cook it?

  • There isn't enough time./

My favorite though is homefries in a cast iron skillet.
Chop potatoes in medium sized chuncks and simmer in lard or butter and a little bacon grease with onion and garlic with lid for about 10 min. or until they are softened.

Remove lid and fry hard with lots of paprika until they are well browned.

  • Potatoes are just like people, come in many colors but the white ones get all the credit.

  • That sounds like an Ogden Nash quote.
He's the guy who, still on vegetables, said, "Parsley is gharsley."

Many ways Didge, I can mix it with wheat flour dough and make flatbread out of it. I can boil and mash it,then season it with spices, onion, minced garlic and green chillies...mmmm....I can boil it and cut into cubes and make a gravy and let it float in it.....I can give you lots of recipes.....I'm not a bad cook;))

  • Sometimes we overlook the simple foods. You're obviously a potato lover and those are great ideas. Thanks for answering.

  • It's easy to overcook veggies and that spoils them. But, yeah, I like mine, too.

Agree Didge, especially spinach, but spinach when eaten raw can cause e.coli, the prewashed spinach which many use directly in their salads have a lot of bacteria.

  • I enjoy spinach salads but, never mind, I like to live dangerously. :)

  • Of course. You can only count to 10 on your fingers. If you use your toes as well you can reach 20. Gentlemen can reach 21.

The Spanish brought back gold from the new world, the British brought back Potatoes. Today, the sales of potato products goes on being worth a fortune. Makes you think, doesn't it?

  • Yes it does, but if I had my druthers, I'd ruther have a plate of gold than a plate of potatoes. (I can fill up on pasta.)
