What are your theories on the ending of Nightmare On Elm Street (#1)? When is Nancy dreaming and what is reality?

Also, why are the adults in the movie so idiotic?

    I've only seen the original (#1) and the first sequel (#2) in this movie franchise.
    And I saw each only once.
    I don't  remember the details enough to answer but I love your question.

    Q1: I dont have a clue. Never watched that movie
    Q2: The Adults are idiots because it is a movie for teens, and teens just know that everyone over 30 is an idiot (I think that was even a slogan at one time :-))
