Why did Jesus walk on water and scare the bazookas out of his Disciples. Couldn't he have just taken another boat to get to them?

  • He could have, yes, but reaching them physically wasn't the point.  Reaching them spiritually was.  It was about trust.  It was about faith.  He wasn't about to ask of them what he would not or could not do himself.  So when he called Peter out upon the water and he was willing to take that first step of faith toward Christ it was because he could see proof before him in all of Jesus'  miraculous "style and flare" that anything is possible with the Lord and that he is indeed just that...Lord.

Yes, and he also showed us a glimpse into the coming kingdom of God, on that day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit would be available to reside in us instead of on us like in the old testament. He was showing by example, the possibilities we would possess after his resurrection and releasing of his Holy Spirit to make all things possible that are not possible with Man alone. He was our forerunner in this race to eternal life and salvation with our Heavenly Father. Jesus is too awesome for words and I only hope when he comes back for us, Ill be much more like Him than I am now. Its a ongoing process to deny yourself daily and pick up your cross. But he showed by coming down from heaven and becoming a Man, that it is possible for Man to live in the will of God and not of the will of Man. He set an example for us all how to shed to some degree, our fleshly life, and customize yourself to living in a spiritual one with him in eternity.  God is a very Good God indeed.
