  • Because he is honest, has integrity, has been fighting for us longer than many of those who support him have lived. He uses common sense and is the one and only one who put the American people first. He is neither a Repub or a Dem and he is not afraid to challenge either party. He was and IS the only true progressive.

Hillary (still wondering the woods aside from the occasion respite to pick ticks off her and earn a few $ at a gig someplace saying some kind of crap) has been relatively absent , but Bernie has been front and center all along post-elections. Still fighting...standing up to fatboy orange.

BTW...Have you noticed that despite all Bernie says about trump, hog boy never comes back at him or insults him? Trump is scared sh!tless of Bernie and his supporters.

Bernie is not just a politician, Rosie...He has founded a movement and that is what is continuing. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at April 23, 2017 6:18 AM MDT

Thank you for your very thoughtful and informative analysis JG. I appreciate it. Bernie seems to be angry at the top of his lungs 24/7. I don't know if that appeals to his supporters. I suppose it must. It doesn't appeal to me. As you probably have gathered from my Answermug posts I get angry too but not at everything and everyone constantly! I take time to smell the flowers. I even pause to smile  on occasion. I think Bernie is on a crusade 24/7. I guess I just can't keep up! :( Trump sucked up to shamefully. Remember during the campaign when Trump was attacking Hillary how often he said the election was rigged against Bernie?  Bernie has a lot of supporters none of which voted for Trump. Hillary supporters didn vote for Trump either. Doofus Donny doesn't have a chance with us or the Bernie folks. Not a chance.  He will forever be limited/restricted/controlled/impotent because more people dislike him than like him.  The numbers are against him. :):):)  I'm a big fan of Elizabeth Warren. FYI! :)

Goat summed it up perfectly. I also think that the fact that he has lived his life without scandal, appears to genuinely be a good and decent person, has something to do with it.

The worst thing that people can say about Bernie is that he's a socialist(ic democrat), and he OWNS that, and his supporters love him for it.

The Dems really F-ed up with nominating Hillary. While I decided against joining the millions who revolted by not voting for her, I understood it. Perhaps in the future, those in power will realize they need to listen to the people who actually vote. Maybe.

  • "The worst thing that people can say about Bernie is that he's a socialist(ic democrat)"

That's true, but not because he IS, but because the terminology is so stigmatized and misunderstood. People still think Socialism is the same as communism and have no clue what the difference is between a Social Democrat and a straight-up Socialist.

I freely admit, that I waved that Bernie flag high and voted for him because I had everything to gain, but in the general (stilling spitting  from the bad taste in my mouth) I voted for Shill because we had everything to lose

I know. And those same people argue against the truth that there are many products of socialism in this country. On this very site, I've seen someone admit that their own children are on Medicaid, while railing against socialistic medicine and touting Trump. The ignorance and irony are mind-boggling!!

I didn't feel there was any other option.

I voted for Hillary.  I could have voted for a candidate from a fringe party (thus wasting my vote) or not voted. Neither option appealed to me. So with a heavy heart I cast my vote for her. Bernie was so angry 24/7. And strident! I guess also very passionate. I would have preferred a lower/slower gear. A gentleman who was all the things you say but also who had a jolly good sense of humor, a calming demeanor. Someone who made me feel we would be good hands, quiet, thoughtful and capable. I didn't get that from Bernie. I got rabblerouser stirrer upper angry man. He was/is so certain he is absolutely right about everything he thinks. I'd like to have seen a little room for doubt.  A more modest demeanor. That's clearly just me. Thank you for your reply SA! :) I like  Elizabeth Warren.

Oh, but he DOES have a such a sense of humor! It's just a bit obscure, which makes me like him all the more.

I don't think any of us ever agree with 100% of a candidate's ideologies/agendas. Some cast their votes based on a single issue (i.e., abortion), which I think is foolish. Especially in Trump's case, since I'm virtually certain that he is not really "pro-life". You would think that people would have seen past his ruse, but millions didn't. His handlers certainly have their work cut out for them, don't they? Interesting times, for sure!

    Happy Monday, Rosie! :)

"Interesting" is an understatement m'dear. Every day I wonder if that will be the day Trump pre-emptive strikes North Korea and we are engaged in a nuclear war. Seriously. The guy is a loony tune loose cannon. He can go off at any time in any direction for any reason or no reason. That doesn 't comfort me at all. Thank you for your reply SA! :)

He is very popular.....The smartest thing Hillary could have done would have been to make him VP.  It could have been the difference in the election.
    Very happy she didn't.

I doubt that he would accepted m2c. I really think his supporters would not have stood for it! I would have liked to have seen that coalition myself. I mean Obama did it by appointing Hillary Secretary of State so he brought her supporters into the fold. I don 't know of course but I have a feeling that if she thought he would have accepted she would have asked him. I mean she isn't stupid. That would be a way to bring aboard his supporters. I just don't see that he would ever have been able to accept. Of course we will never know! Thank you for your reply m'dear!  :)

I agree with you, Rosie. Although, Bernie might have accepted for the good of this country, knowing that having the votes of his supporters would have made the election Hillary's. He might have compromised his principles in order to keep Trump out of the oval office. We will never know!

True. I wish we had never known what it would be like to have Doofus Donny as prez. That ignorance I would have welcomed! :(

A true American hates socialism. Bernie is guilty of putting his foot in the door.  More socialists will run for political office. I cannot believe socialism got any votes at all. Can you imagine America turning into Cuba?

Joe McCarthy is dead, dude. Democratic Socialism, which is what they have in Sweden, is very different to Communism, which is what they have in Cuba. Sweden's economy is actually in better shape than America's right now.

Social Security and Medicare are socialistic bh.  Do you object to them? Your test for "true American" is skewed to support your own particular view. I disagree with thee. Does that mean that you are more a TRUE AMERICAN than I am? You are not the best one to judge that methinks.  An excellent litmus test is do you engage in treason? Are you a traitor? Do you engage with foreign countries to sabotage American traditions, undermine American institutions, to win an election? Do you lavish money on yourself and your family at the expense of the American people? Just my opinion of course to which I am entitled as you are entitled to yours. Thank you for your reply.

  • Sanders has been something of an enigma as regards politics. He spent many years in the Senate enjoying what I term "obscurity in plain sight". He was brought into the bright lights of notoriety by a predominately left leaning youth activism that has ignited in presidential election cycles over the years. You may recall the following of Sen. Eugene McCarthy and to a lesser extent, the interest in RFK among young people. RFK, during the campaign of 1968, ruefully commented on the devotion and zeal for McCarthy generated among the college set and how he wished he could have had that level of loyalty. Not the whole explanation, but certainly a large part of the phenomenon.

All I got from Sanders was "ANGRY OLD MAN". I know I shall certainly be excoriated by his supporters for that. I would have liked a gentler man. Calm, quiet, thoughtful. Someone who paused, smiled, even perhaps told a joke or two about himself. I don't do well in an angry environment. I shrivel up and go away. Maybe what he had to sell I just wasn't in the mood to buy. I like Elizabeth Warren. If Bernie had been the Dem candidate of course I would have voted for him. I sure as he** would never vote for Doofus Donny! If Bobby Kennedy hadn't been assassinated I wonder what kind of prez he would have been? If JFK and MLK,Jr hadn't been assassinated what would the world be like now? If if if if if? Thank you for your reply driftwood and Happy  Sunday! :)

He probably would have beaten Trump, that's why - unless the electorate as a whole made the same mistake bhwilson did above, and equate "socialism" with "communism". The spectre of Joe McCarthy still haunts American politics.

Now it's "Muslims" and "Immigrants" who are the preferred scapegoated objects of hate. Nothing has changed in America at all since McCarthy days. Except that WHITE IS RIGHT is now said out loud and people cheer. Make America Great Again is Make America White Again. A sly smile.  A 'secret' code. Not so secret but the dimwits are oblivious to all but other like-minded dimwits. They seem to be multiplying. Do they breed like rabbits? I wonder? In the olden days people winky winked and nodded and everyone knew what they meant. These days they just regurgigate all hate speech and people clap and yell and jump up and down with joy!  Disgusting of course but there it is!  The  ones to hate just keep changing according to what is in style at the moment and what brain-dead brick wall is head of state.  SIGH. Thank you for your reply Sbf.

Nobody sees a parallel to somebody for whom it was "Jews", either ...

I relate very organically to the Jewish people. You know I am of Armenian descent so we have our Armenian Genocide to thank the Turks for during which we "lost" 1.5 million Armenians. Genocide is never far away is it? Countries take turns having murderous despots "decide" that ethnic cleansing will solve all their problems and so the carnage begins. I saw a haunting episode of NOVA about Vilnius, Lithuania. It stays with me still. How many people were slaughtered in how many towns in how many countries in how many centuries since time began? Can we put a number to it? Of course the Turks refuse to admit it was genocide to this day. Other countries in the world have acknowledged the Armenian Genocide by legal/official decree. Not the US. They are chickensh**. Turkey is an ally and so they ignore the truth and dare not say diddly about it. Shame shame on them. :(

The only people I hear saying "White is right" are those on the left claiming the right are saying it. I am on the right and would never say or cheer someone for say such crap.
The left is always playing identity politics... devide and conquer seems to be the only strategy they always play.

ALT-RIGHTS are the ones who say it. WHITE SUPREMACY exists. WHITE NATIONALISTS exist m2c. You may wish to remain unaware of it but they exist. Lately with Trump they are PROUD of what they are and don't mind saying so. You think folks on the left make stuff up. If  WHITE IS RIGHT only exists within the left I wonde what all the KKK remembers,  skinheads,  militia groups will do? Or have we manufactured them too and they only exist in leftist enclaves? Really.  You surprise me. You are either very naive or not being honest. I prefer to think it is the former. There are none so blind as those who will not see. I guess we on the left made that up too. Thank you for your reply.
