I Will Ask 5 Questions a Day (Sign Up Here!)

All it takes is a few people to start creating discussions before the whole tone of the feed changes. If you'd like to see more activity here, add a comment to this thread to let others know you're committed to making the change happen. Let's hold each other accountable!

  • I don't know what you are talking about.  I ask a lot of questions and all of them are diverse.  That is how I am and that is what I do.   If the tone changes, what of that?  I think that is interesting.  Why do we have to micromanage everything on here?  Just let it be already.

  • This probably isn't designed for people like you who naturally ask questions that pop into your mind. I created this for people who aren't happy with the tone of the site- to empower them to do something about it.

  • Sure thing. Great idea, JA. I hope more than the already regular posters will show up and join this idea.

There is a few things we should keep for eye though. I have previously taken part in challenges posting ten questions. Making more than one or two questions at a time seems to provoke some complaining we are spamming the main question board. Quite ironically as it was a try to break up the monotone presence of all the Trump questions at that time.

I won't say I am not open to the challenge part too, but for now I'll try to make up my own system of series of questions that will be giving, provoking, or silly one way or another over a period of time.

As said, after my experience with the post ten questions about a topic challenge, I got a few remarks I'd like to suggest to keep for eye (goes as well for the challenge post inside this group) before we launch our questions:

    1. If we should succeed to make the question board more varied we need to spread our questions around the day, and not only at one time a day. Otherwise we will still see a question board that is dominated by political questions only.
    2. We do also need to spread our questions to avoid creating another spam alike syndrome by series of questions asked by one poster within a limited period of time.
    3. It would be great if we can vary the topic and categories we ask and post our questions inside. Again, to create more variety.

These are just some observations, and experiences made by previous tries to break the monotony of the main question board. It's been a busy day where I unfortunately haven't been able to share my thoughts before now. I will join and do my best to minimum ask five questions a day whenever it's physically possible.

For a less monotone main question board.

  • I think it comes down to more people doing it and sticking with it. Activity creates activity and the more people asking, the less it matters where those questions land. We've tried to break into it with one person for a day or two, not a group of people sticking to it over a period of time. It makes a difference.

This is different than the challenges. I love those, but this is just each person doing his or her own thing. Because of that, there's far more variance than there is with the challenges. So, even if there are 5 questions on the same thing from one person, it's getting pooled in with hundreds from others. By our very nature, we're already diverse. We're all in different time zones. We have different interests. Heck, just looking at the three of us who are here... we're all very different in our thoughts and approaches.

At any rate, I'm glad you're here. :) Thank you! Look forward to more Q&A!

  • Made my first round last night (my time). I hope I'll be able to spread them a bit more today than my last four last night. My believe is it will create more traffic on each question if so. I might be wrong.

I do agree, the more of us doing it and sticking to it, the greater a chance to make a difference. I appreciate you as admin and owner very much. You hopefully know and are aware of that even if i don't always get around to tell you. I haven't met yours alike any other place, and this is meant very much positive.

Lets hope more will sign up inside this group and join our efforts. Hugs JA. :-)

  • Any amount of questions are better than none. If we are enough doing it, it will create a more interesting question board showing/presenting diversity.

  • What? You ask questions. I've seen them myself, I've even been partaking in some of them. And like Tammy says, you do also reply a lot on the questions of others. Questions are even greater if they also attract traffic. Your replies adds to traffic. Mhmm.
