Ever see the movie "MADAME CURIE"? Pierre and Marie worked very long and very hard to answer a question that occured to them. WHY?

The question in its most simple form was WHY was the whole twice the sum of the parts? It made no sense to them so they sought to answer that question.

Because they had what all creative inventive imaginative people have! CURIOSITY. UNQUENCHABLE CURIOSITY.

It begins by noticing observing being aware and then refining it to focus on what doesn't make sense. To make sense out of it. A driving essential. Never giving up until an answer is found and then going on to other things.

So many people are INCURIOUS. They do not notice disparities or that whic is illogical. They simply accept what is and move along doing what they are told by those whom they allow to do their thinking for them. Sheeple.

Contradictions? Hypocritical untruthful assertions? Obvious distortions? If they notice they are indifferent and have no desire to pursue answers or find solutions. Why are so many so lacking in curiosity/awareness? Why don't they care? Too many care about what they shouldn't and don't care about what they should. Lazy? Ill-equipped? Disengaged uninvolved aloof distant closed off? Take your pick. They  take but are not inclined to give. The SOP of ordinary average typical nothing special homo saps. A pity. A brain is a terrible thing to waste.

I'm not sure of what question they were asking. Care to enlighten?

What they were testing was a rock/stone that had strains of uranium and thorium(I didn't catch exactly what it was). They tested each separately and whatever they were measuing each measured a 2. So testing the rock itself with both in it should have logically measured 4 but the result they got was a 8! The question was of what did that mysterious additional 4 consist? They worked on answering that question for years and won a Nobel Prize in Physics. What that mysterious thing was was another element! They had discovered another element which they named RADIUM. The testing and trials were exhaustive and exhausting. I think they also discovered Plutonium. Their drive to answer that question panned out. Why did the entire rock test 8 when it should have tested 4?. I think what they were testing might have been the presence of some force that some rocks generated that was measureable. Some rocks gave off NOTHING. You didn't see the movie then? I am not a scientist so this is best explanation I can give you because I am ignorant about the subject. Thank you for your question. I hope I answered it. If not it wasn't because I didn't try. Happy Wednesday to thee. This post was edited by RosieG at February 12, 2020 11:24 AM MST

I did not see the movie, but I know the history. Only Pierre got the Nobel prize at the time...women couldn't join that club. Plutonium is only artificially produced in quantity in reactors. Any natural Pu can only exist for an extremely short time in natural decay series of other elements.
