Do you always try to do what is in your own "best" interests even if/when you have to hold your nose to do it because of the stench?
You meet someone who seems ok but turns out to be a few cards short of a full deck. It's in your own best interests to get along with him/her. Do you or don't you? Do hang in or move on? Why?
