    The phrase "tilting at windmills" have noting to do with making the windmills topple. It come from the Knightly sport of Jousting.And partly from Cervantes book "Don Quichote" where a crazy Knight rides at some windmills with his lance (imagining they are some sort of monsters), in the same way that Knights in a Jousting arena "Tilt at eachother".

    They ride towards eachother as fast as they can (at full tilt) and I rather think that the where the word 'tilting' comes from
