Because they let whom they are and what they say/do speak for itself. It is "the other" that constantly brags and boasts 24/7 because they "know" if they don't brag no one will pay any attention at all. They are constantly beating their own drum. If they don't no one will hear them. No one will beat the drum for them.
Bragging does not indicate a huge ego. It indicates a feeling of worthlessness inadequacy irrelevance invisibility.
