Bottom line. You can ARGUE with folks 24/7 about anything as long as you have respect for them. If you don't you can't/shouldn't. DO YOU?

I can't do it. Spend any time discussing anything with those for whom I have no respect.

Can you? If so HOW?

I can debate as long as the person can do it without calling names etc.  It is surprising how many people cannot do that.

They get banned from here. For how long I don't know. Maybe as was true at Answerbag the more often the longer the penalty. I get emails from you when I've been a very bad girl. No worries. Thank you for your reply m2c. I think when I first started JA banned me for something. But it didn't last as long as she said it would. Maybe she reconsidered. Didn't matter. You do the crime you do the time. Never bothers me. Thank you for your reply m2c.

Yes, we are one of the few sites who have respect rules for users.
This is how it works within 3 months:
     1st offense- Warning,
2nd offense- 48 hour site suspension,
3rd offense- suspension length will be determined by a vote of the moderators and may include permanent ban from answerMug

I was not a mod early on so IDK if what the length was. But I would guess the 48 hrs.

Respect isn't a word I would have thought of, but you're absolutely right.

If one has respect, then it's a debate.  When that respect is lost it becomes an futile argument.  Debates are meant to stimulate the thought process so as persuade others to one side or the other.  Arguments are close-minded rants.
