    There is no upside. Half the earth would have continuous light and the other constant dark, basically rendering it uninhabitable. Bummer.

    Isn't that exactly what Alaskas live with E? Six months of sun and six month of darkness or is that just an old wive's tale? Thank you for your reply.

    No. Their daylight hours are actually longer than ours...and even the equator. The reason for that is the low angle of the sun. The poles actually get 24 hours of light and darkness for a few months.
