Get what you DESERVE. DESERVE what you get. The same or different? How?

    Different... very different.

The man thought it was fun to throw rocks at cars on the freeway.  One time, he hit a car which then careened off the road and slammed into him against a tree.

The man who scammed millions out of money, won the biggest lottery jackpot in history.

The first person may have deserved what he got, but did the second get what he deserved?

Speaking very seriously here Shuhak I have always wanted to get what I deserved...meaning what I worked for and earned. I'd rather have someone take credit for my work than for someone to give me credit for something I did not earn. I always make it very clear when it is my work I present or if I co-opted it I always put it in quotation marks so folks won't think it is my creation. i am very particular about that. I have always been that way. I don't want any more or any less than what I earn myself. I am not one who likes to "get away with" anything. That's like cheating or lying. I get no thrill from it. Thank you for your reply. If you deserve what you get for having earned it why can't it be the same thing as getting what you deserve? :) This post was edited by RosieG at April 14, 2020 6:04 PM MDT

You want fairness.  I fully agree.
While I do want fairness, I don't always want to get everything I deserve.  I mean, there have been many times that I've gone over the speed limit... sometimes way over (who hasn't?)  Luckily, I didn't get caught.  However, I did break the law and I deserve a ticket.
I fully believe in doing an honest day's work for for an honest day's pay.  I believe that if I write a story I should get full credit for it.

Funny odd that your example is about speeding Shuhak. I was nailed once long ago for doing 80 in a 65 mph zone. In actuality I WAS DOING 90! Driving up north from L.A. to visit my son who was attending Cal Berkeley and lived in Albany on the boring HIGHWAY 5, I was tooling along with a line of cars in my draft. Minding my own business. If you've ever driven it you know how boring it is for hundreds of miles. I noticed in my rear view mirror cars being pulled over. I slowed down the cop got to me and flagged me to pull over. I guess by the time he clocked me I had dropped to 80. He wrote the ticket. I went to traffic school so the ticket would not stay on my record. I did not correct his writing the ticket for 80. Bad girl. BUT if he had written it for 90 that would have been 25 miles over the speed limit which would have made me ineligible for traffic school and it would have gone on my record. So I got away with something I shouldn't have. Bad girl. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)

You too, eh?  I got pulled over for doing 78 in a 55 zone when my speedometer said I was doing 87.

I was heading home from college and pulled onto I-80 - eastbound, up the hill.  At that time , that portion of 80 was still a 2-lane freeway, but the onramp was nearly 1/4 mile long.  Well, the freeway was full of semis.  Driving uphill behind semis is annoying as they cant go very fast, so I floored it while I was on the onramp soI get ahead of them.  It worked.  However, I'd barely gone 10 miles when the red light appeared in my mirror (first thing one does when they see that dreaded red light is look at their speedometer).   Unbeknown to me, the semis were bunches  up as they were all driving at or below 55 as there was a HP car in the fast lane.  The trucks had blocked my view of him.   First time I'd even been pulled over.  When he asked for my license and registration, I reached rapidly towards the glovebox.  His hand went for his gun as he stepped quickly back from the driver's side door.  Luckily he let me off with a warning.  (whew!!)
