Is there any causality to observing? By watching what happens you neither create it nor mitigate it. Can you be faulted for doing nothing?

You see a car heading straight for a child.

You could just sit on your arse and observe it
OR
You could get up off your arse and pull the child out of harm's way


What you choose to do is up to you.
