Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Do you know when you are on someone's wavelength and when you're not? How can you tell if you are in fact or not?
Hook you both up to an oscilloscope ... then you'll see what frequency you're both on. LOL
But it's a good question. How to tell when you're on the same wavelength or page? I guess if both people agree they are, they are.
I've heard one way to be sure you're understanding someone, is to repeat back what you think they said before you respond. "If I'm understanding you right, you're saying {blah, blah, blah}."
I have tried that Walt. Here's the problem I encounter. Words don't mean the same thing to people. We interpret meaning based on the intellectual depth or lack there of which is controlled by our minds/brains. I know you have encountered folks who are full of themselves intellectually whose responses are imbecilic and off topic but they have no clue how far afield they are. They really believe they know what you are talking about and respond in ways that let you know they don't have a clue. You can never bridge that gap. Well let me reconsider that. I have never been able to bridge that gap. Mebbe you have found a way to do it. We talk over under around above below one another totally unaware we are doing so. We think we are communicating when in fact there is no communication going on whatsoever. Alas. Thank you for your reply! :)
