Why is it that those who believe in a supreme being are kinder to those who don't than the non-believers are to them?
I have pondered that for years and have yet to get a logical answer from anyone.
I don't look down on Atheists. They are wired such that believing in something they cannot see makes no sense to them. I respect that completely. I never dis them.
However I sometimes encounter the disbelievers non-believers who seem to be somewhat patronizing condescending and even at times supercilious about those of us who don't see things as they do. As if I am "less then" intellectually. Perhaps I am but perhaps they are "less than" I am as well. We are not always the best judges of ourselves are we?
Now why do they have such a need for voicing their disapproval? Beliefs tastes preferences are always going to be individual. Sometimes we share them with others. Sometimes we don't. SO WHAT?
Whatever your preferences are (excluding politics of course) is fine with me. Hopefully such preferences are not harmful to anyone.
So your choices reflect whom you are. Food clothing literature music philosophy. Fine with me. No skin off my nose.
Politics is tricky and we are extremely divided on that. Why? Because the corrupt politics of those in power AFFECTS the people adversely. Sometimes sadly religion does too. That is to say when the powerful try to CRAM DOWN YOUR THROAT their beliefs to the extent of LEGISLATING their beliefs into law. That SUCKS and I find that very offensive.
Whatever.
