Can a person be convicted of something he/she did not do simply due to a prior stated conviction?

Becoming a CONVICT because of a conviction without being guilty of having done anything wrong? The stuff of nightmares.

    Prior convictions will lead to having less credibility in any situation.  But to be convicted of another crime there must evidence proving the case.
