Marshal Petain established an AUTHORITARIAN government whicn FREE FRANCE and all future French governments decried reviled vilified. COLLABORATORS! Petain reversed many LIBERAL polices, tightened control of the media, labor unions. Conservative Catholics (read evangelicals) became prominent. Promoted ANTI-SEMITISM. Touted NATIONAL REGENERATION (make america great again). Tumbleweed is Marshal Petain redux.
