"THE COURT MARTIAL OF DONALD J. TRUMP'. Arresting headline isn't it? As commander-in-chief could he be court-martialed?

For DERELCTION OF DUTY or a bazillion other things?

That West Point speech was quite pathetic. Better he should not have forced the guys to come back for it. Better for him had he not haltingly and suspiciously try to walk down the ramp without raising suspicions. Better for him had he forgotten the whole thing and held a VIRTUAL rally instead.

I don't believe the President can be subjected to a court martial.
As a civilian, he is subject to civilian courts - not military.

Of course, even if the President were subject to military courts ... as the Commander in Chief, he is the ultimate authority under which those courts are convened.  So he would have to agree to be brought to trial in a military court.  Which is probably why he is subject to the civilian court system, instead.

Darn! That was a New York Times headline Walt. Didn't read the article authored by someone unfamiliar to me. But I thought what a novel idea! Thank you for your thoughtful and informative reply. What is the extent of power of a Commander in Chief? I shall ask. Happy Tuesday! :)
