Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» If everyone operated on the philosophy that not paying federal income taxes is smart how would the government be funded?
Maybe the law should not allow this. Trump did nothing illegal by including his loss on the return and hillary did the exact same thing on the tax return she released. The trump tax return is from something like 20 years ago a time when bill clinton was in power. As trump pointed out she and her husband have been in one office or another for a very long time and yet nothing has changed. That tax law is still the same today. So why would another 4 years be different from before?
Coming from countries who do business with us only? No funding from the citizens who benefit from whatever government does for them? I dunno. How is that fair Glis? Thank you for your reply! :)
Had to come up with something. Though yes, I think citizens should be taxed a little less and foreign producers should be tariffed more on goods that compete with domestic goods. It is totally fair that if a foreign producer wants to compete in our economy and take some of our collective wealth that they pay into our system through tariff. I also think that American companies that have their goods produced over seas and then imported should be paying a tariff on those goods.
Personal taxes are not the only way to get revenue. There is Value Added Taxes (taxing trading), Business taxes (taxing industry), poison taxes (taxing smoking and drinking), joy taxes (taxing entertainment). Lots of ways to rake in money ;-))
As an example: In the 'good old days' Tax collectors were usually given a 'quota' of how much they should collect, then sent out in the countryside. The tax collector would then collect money from people whose gang of thugs were less strong than the tax collectors gang of Thugs. Sheer highway robbery ;-))
We are already being taxed multiple ways JakobA. I suppose all those taxes could be increased to offset the loss of income taxes. What would the loss of federal income taxes mean? What percentage of taxes available to the government come from income? I guess I can Google that. Thank you for your reply! :)
