Is it safe to leave an Xbox on ?

My Xbox picked a very bad time to update because our stupid satellite internet is slow at night except for after 11 or midnight when it's a little bit fast. I'm scared of leaving it on half the night. I tried uplugging it that didn't work. Is there a way to turn it off while it updates ? Is it safe to leave it on in the middle of the night while it updates ?

    Yes, is will be fine.  If people can play it all day long and not hurt it then it certainly update all night and not over heat. 

    Always make sure nothing is blocking air vents and that they are clean of dirt and dust.

    leaving it on for a night to update it should be fine. i just wouldn’t make a habit out of it
