Can homogenization/emulsification work in reverse? From a huge mass to the individual components that preceded it?

I know from a practical standpoint when I make a batter for a cake I can't debatter the batter and have all the components go back to their individual states. Is that always true of all homogenized emulsified including homo saps? Once sucked in to the drama can you ever become unsucked unstuck and escape the sameness?
